Teacher's Guide

'Ainakumuwai Teacher's Guide offers two resources for teachers:

The first is a site guide comprised of questions for students to answer as they move through the site. It is divided into six pdf files - one for each section of 'Ainakumuwai. This guide is one way of assuring that students have read and understand the material presented. They may not have much time in the computer lab to check their email.

The second resource is a series of classroom activities compiled by Pacific World for their web site Ha'ena. These activities are highly recommended for teachers who would like to use an indigenous geographic approach that moves across the academic disciplines.

Although this site was designed for students in the ahupua'a of Nawiliwili Bay, the same sequence of events - from Natural History to Tomorrow - has occurred on every Hawaiian Island. Students are encouraged to apply this multi-disciplinary approach to their own 'ainakumuwai.
